… well, I’m back from the war that was the playoffs … In short, we lost both of our games finishing 4th, as we did in the league standings. But, 2 things happened this weekend that was truly encouraging …

First, was the fact that we belonged there. Despite a seemingly lop-sided loss to Seneca, we knew they had to give it their all to do so. We have a terrible tendancy to “wake up” near the end of the first half. Come the second half, we played very well, and held them back for the most part. However, it was too little too late.

Secondly, and most likely more importantly … we hit the bar. I know, it sounds bad … but it was a great thing, and I’ll tell you why. Almost every single guy came out, and we hammed it up. We had a great time. It made for great team bonding. Some time in between playing Geography, the Name Game, and Six Degrees, we looked around a realized that most of the team will be returning for next year. The core is back. And we had truly learned to play together, for each other, as it was evident against Conestoga the next day.

However, with the good, comes the bad. We were so close to winning our second game. If only we had 5 minutes more, we would have done it. While talking to other team after the game, even they admitted that they thought, nay, believed that they would lose the game. At the end of the game, there were some comments made made by Coach that really set off some tempers.

With those comments, some players really, really vocalized their dislike for the coachng staff. Literally, about a dozen guys walked up to me and have told me that if I decided to call the shots on the field, they’d take my word and not the coaches’.

More to come later … need to recover some more …
